Empowered

To empower is to give power, to enable, to equip or supply with an ability.

I watched tonight’s episode of MMK or Maalaala Mo Kaya, it’s about Auring, a woman who was born during the times when women doesn’t have the same rights as men. Women in her time were somehow playing the shadow of their husband or the man of the house. Auring’s story was indeed a story of an empowered woman who does not only gain the respect of her neighbors but also made the women in her community empowered. It started as a personal dream or pursuit to just help her family have a better future, from going beyond self and family to extending the dreams for her neighbors and for the community. It’s a story that tells us to live more than ourselves, to extend beyond our boundaries … from self to free others’ dreams as well. That’s empowerment, that’s how one man’s or woman’s (for this matter) mind works..from one determined mind it affects many, changing another’s lives, changing community, changing the world.
